Verdict of "Literatura na świecie" Award


Daniel Kac died

Our author, Daniel Kac, a writer, a poet, and translator died on October 30th, 2005. He was 97. The Borderland has published Kac's life-work about a distinguished Yiddish poet from Vilnius, Abraham Sutzkever - Vilne was Jerusalem.











Natan Gross died

Natan Gross, one of the last survivors of Shoah, died on 5th October, 2005. A friend of the Borderland who assisted and supported us until his last days. He was a poet, a writer, a reciter, a director, a scenarist, film producer, a critic and translator, animator of many cultural events in Israel where he lived since 1950.

Magic Prague, or Other city

Unusual evening of Czech prose and poetry in Warsaw Culture and Educational Center "Łowicka" during the first day of 50th Bookfair. Polish critics and translators Jan Gondowicz i Leszek Engelking moderated the event in which Czech writers Michal Ajvaz, Jiři Krchovský, and Vit Kremlička read their poetry.

The poems selection written within 50 years of poetic activity of Izet "Kiko" Sarajlić. Died in May 2002, Bosnian poet has remained a legend of Sarajewo. Cordially tied with Poland where he had a lot of devoted friends. Danuta Cirlić-Straszyńska and Marian Grześczak prove this friendship with their high-quality translations.

Friendship
The film directed during the realisation of the Borderland Children project, in which youth from Sejny and Danish-German borderland participated. The meeting took part in Knivsberd (Denmark) on July 13-17 2002.
