'Czerniowice, Lvov, Cracow, Bratislava, Trieste - these are only few cities, which, if they want to take their chance, they must radiate with their influence beyond the borders of their own countries' - claims the author of the essay, trying to describe the common sphere of culture of the Central- Eastern Europe.
ALOIS WOLDAN: The picture of Vienna in the modern Polish literature.
Vienna - ' the city of Emperors', 'the city of culture and art' and 'the city of a specified life-style'. The author proves that the reflection on Vienna and also on the literary reconstructions does not lack for mythological elements.
KRZYSZTOF CZYZEWSKI: Czerniowice - a forgotten metropolis on the outskirts of the Habsburgian Monarchy.
This time the wanderer through the Central-Eastern Europe got to Czerniowice - the capital of Bucovina, which was once called 'half Asia' by a certain nineteenth century Bucovinian writer. The guide to the city of Paul Celan, Rose Auslander and the Jewish Caddick Friedman of Sadagóra, the author made an old inhabitant of the old medieval city on Prut, the mythical Czernowitzer who spoke several languages of the Central-Eastern Europe, the experienced connoiseur of the secret code of the city on the outskirts of the Habsburgian Monarchy. Together with him we wander about his temples, streets, squares, Turkish and Jewish districts and five national houses (Polish, Ukrainian, German, Romanian and Jewish).
MOJSEJ FISZBEJN: Return to the Meridian.
Not only Paul Celan was connected with Czerniowice by 'the meridian of the heart'. Also Mojsej Fiszbejn, a poet and an interpreter, at present living in exile in Germany, in his memoirs comes back to the city of his youth.

SELMA MEERBAUM - EISINGER: Poems.
She was a poet from Czerniowice who died at the age of 18; as her literary output she left 57 poems.
ROSE AUSLANDER: Poems.
Born in Czerniowice, Rose emigrated to the United States in 1920. She lived the war in the Czerniowice Ghetto. Her poems were written in German.
PAUL CELAN: Poems.
Poems of a distinguished Bucovinian artist of Jewish origins in the translation of Jacek St. Buras, Jakub Ekier and Feliks Przybylak.
PAUL CELAN: 'The Fugue of Death'.
It is one of the poet's most outstanding work in the language of Bucovina: German, Romanian,Ukrainian,Yiddish and Polish.

PAUL CELAN: Todtnauberg.
The poem was created under the influence of the meeting with Martin Heidegger, a German philosopher.
PIERRE JORIS: Celan / Heidegger. The translation was made at the foot of the Death Mountain. The essay, being a literary and historical analysis of the poem titled 'Todtnauberg' inclines towards cogitation about the nature of the translation. 'A poem can be translated only into another poem - it may be done in another language, in another century' - claims the author. However, first and foremost Joris very deeply analyses on the event symbolic for the whole XX century - a meeting with a philosopher bearing the burden of the Nazi past and a poet escaping Holocaust, writing in the language of the murderers.'
FELIKS PRZYBYLAK: The Circles of Celan's World (Lebenswelt).
'The art of the poet crossed the vision of the epoch' but they were enriched with 'the circles of Celan's world'. They were collected and introduced by an outstanding expert on Celan's literary production, the author of a book on the genius of Bucovina, also an interpreter of Celan's poetry.
HELMUT BOTTIGER: Paul Celan's Places.
Wandering about the places connected with the poet, the author brings to mind the Golden Age of Czerniowice (from the second half of the nineteenth century), as well as the history of the decline of the city as the result of the Second World War, when ' the Czerniowice culture was turned adrift.' The phenomenon of the city spirit which created a kindly atmosphere for 'people and writing' may be found only by a careful wanderer.

A fragment of the book 'The Memoirs of an anti - Semite' - the autobiographical novel by a writer of Bucovinian origins 'undoubtedly one of the most beautiful countries in the world'. 'The Memoirs' is the literary record of the evolution which undergoes that absolute anti - Semite under the influence of his contact with the Jews who were making the majority of the Bucovinian population. The artist shows the absurdity of anti - Semitism, which is , however, more dangerous because it exists in the author himself.

NATIONAL AND RELIGIOUS CONFRATERNITIES
ADAM BARTOSZ: Bobowski 'sztetl' on Brooklyn.
On the route from Grybów to Krynica there is Bobowa, where, on the hilly cemetery lies the Caddick Salomon ben Natan. On the abondoned Jewish cemetery there have not been any new graves, still the orthodontic Bobowa is vibrant with life ... on the New York Brooklyn. In his report, the manager of the Tarnów Museum, an ethnographer ( an expert in the culture of the Gypsies and the Jewish) invites to visit a traditional, though somewhat modern world of the Orthodox from New York.

THE STUDY OF JAROMIR JEDLINSKI.
The author, an historian of art, an independent guardian of many exhibitions of modern art, in his author's gallery proposes a meeting with the theatre of Tadeusz Kantor and Joshua Neustein, 'an artist from the crossroads of cultures', who 'seeks the missing link of his own history in the history belonging to others'.

THE STUDY OF MACIEJ RYCHLY.
