Bożena Szroeder

Bożena Szroeder is the originator and co-founder of the "Borderland of Arts, Cultures and Nations Centre" in Sejny. Since the beginning, she is the senior instructor and a manager in Documentation of Borderland Cultures Centre. Having a vast experience in cultural animation, outstanding art skills especially in directing theatre performances), and great pedagogical and organizational capacity, she is the core of the "Borderland" team since the irst days.

For many years, very successfully, she is running a theatre workshops for children and is the leader of the "Sejny Chronicles" program, which ained worldwide recognition. Together with the theatre, she directed such plays as "The Rose" and "Sejny Chronicles". She is the inventor of the 
innovative program of intercultural education for children, which is implemented in schools in Sejny and has been taken as a model to follow in some other schools in Poland. She is also a co-leader of a program "Glass Bead Game", dedicated to cultural work on memory and identity of the place where children grow up, which is currently conducted with many centres in Poland and Europe, as well. She is a notable specialist in Gypsy culture and history, running a gypsy department in Documentation Centre and conducting such programs like "Gypsy Art Village" or "String of Carts". 

Bożena Szroeder has a magnificent merits in the field of discovering and documenting multicultural heritage of Sejny region - she is the co-founder of Cultural Traditions of Sejny Museum and a assistant editor of Polish-Lithuanian magazine " Sejny Almanac".
