David Krakauer

David Krakauer (clarinet) is an internationally acclaimed musician, one of the most finest representatives of klezmer avant-garde. His unique music style gracefully synthesizes chamber music, Eastern European klezmer, avant-garde, rock and jazz, Krakauer lies way beyond "cross-over."

Krakauer is in demand worldwide as a guest soloist with the finest chamber music groups. He has recently appeared with the Tokyo String Quartet, the Eroica Trio, the Kronos Quartet, the Lark Quartet, the Mendelssohn String Quartet, and The Empire Brass Quintet. His group Klezmer Madness was one of a new and vital wave of klezmer groups.

He is a member of the clarinet and chamber music faculties of the Manhattan School of Music, Mannes College of Music and Queens College.

His ancestors are from Lemberg (now Lviv, Ukraine) and Slutsk (now Sluck, Bielarus). He lives in New York City.
