Informations on BCDC

The Borderland Cultures Documentation Center comprises a rich multilingual collection. There are publications in Polish and English, but also books and magazines in Lithuanian, Estonian, Russian, Belarusian, Ukrainian, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, German, Jidysz, Georgian, and in various Balkan and Asian languages. BCDC is also a place of different ateliers that contain rich collections of Judaica, Romany (material on Gypsies), the Baltic peoples, audio collection (numerous sets of traditional and contemporary music), there is also magazines’ atelier. The film atelier containing outstanding documentaries and feature films, as well as audiovisual atelier with photo archives and video materials directed and produced by the Borderland Foundation should be of special interest. The next one is Newspaper Clips Atelier that contains local and national press articles about contemporary Poland and Polish social life. Documentation Center possesses also archival collections of old postcards, old illustrations and maps. 

Reading-room is prepared for the use of all these collections. There are computers, audio and video equipment, and xerograph. About 2000 individuals uses our collections per year 

Altogether there are approximately 21000 books, 10000 issues of magazines, over 3500 films, over 1000 CDs, and more than old postcards, documents, photographs, maps, lithographs, posters, and illustrations from all over the world.

The database is prepared now only in Polish, but soon there will be access to English version as well. Nevertheless, you can check our collections through the Polish search engine by clicking the icon below. When Documentation Center database opens, insert the name of the author, the topic or isbn number of the book in the box on the top of the page.
