Sejny Theatre's Klezmer Orchestra

Sejny Theatre's Klezmer Orchestra is a music band that started while they were searching for musical themes to be incorporated into the Dybbuk theater performance by Szymona An-ski, realized by Teatr Sejneński in 1996. Their passion for playing klezmer music - the music of East-Central European Jews - has transgressed the boundaries of the performance itself and has given birth to their search into the musical tradition. The klezmer music they play accompanies theater performances, musical festivities and is performed during concerts.

The most important for them are the concerts at the White Synagogue in Sejny. Even though it is no longer the preaching place and even though the Jewish people no longer live here, it is a place where there is still the forgotten sound of not-anymore-present Jewish world. They hope to save this forgotten sound with their music.

Sejny Theater works at the Borderland Center of the Arts, Cultures, and Nations and Borderland Foundation in Sejny under the direction of Małgorzata Sporek-Czyżewska and Wojciech Szroeder.
Klezmer Band is led by Wojciech Szroeder.
