Documentation Center of Borderland Cultures

The Documentation Center of Borderland Cultures was created in 1991 as an integral part of the Center "Borderland of Arts, Cultures and Nations" in Sejny. Its purpose is to compile, develop, make available and propagate the library collections. These collections are focused on cultural heritage of Central and Eastern European nations, nations of the Caucasus, and the Central Asia. It is a unique library and its voluminousness proves its quality and usefulness to a wide range of receivers, youth, students, scholars, journalists not only from Poland, but from the entire Europe. Evidence of this is in the ever-growing number of holders of scholarships, interns, visiting groups and individual persons searching for materials for publications (articles, books), MA and BA theses, PhD dissertations on history and culture of borderland regions of Central and Eastern Europe. The Center is also used by the school youth - they gather material for their semester works, as well as they exploit film, music, tapes and library collections. Many people come here to study before their entrance examinations. All visitors are gladly assisted by the Center’s employee. The Center also provides correspondence assistance to individual persons, editorial staff and publishers.
