Music of the Place: From Thee to Thee

The concerto is composed by Raphael Roginski - a young guitarist, improviser and a composer, for the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of Borderland's work, that took place in early May 2012. In this extraordinary adventure of music, musicians of different generations, cultures, traditions and places could meet - the youth of the Sejny Theatre's Klezmer Orchestra, like Vlad Moniuszko - a nine-year old student of music school; Marcin Masecki - a pianist, composer, from Warsaw; the master, Raphael Roginski; Ola Bilińska - singer; and - born before the war in Sejny - Max Furmański - cantor, now living in Israel.

The author himself says: a song cycle titled "From Thee to Thee" is the composition of the texts of poets from different borderlands, ages, cultures and ideas. While living in the medieval Spain, they created Kabbalistic poems, praising the energy affecting people, regardless of the borders. The ancient code for the understanding of the world revealed to them as an equation, leading to the finding of human life in the multiplicity and richness. This concert is my tribute to time.
