Wijuny

The premiere took place in 1998 in the White Synagogue, Sejny.

The play found its inspiration in a trip around Polish villages in the vicinity of Lida in Belarus. Meeting that world was a history lesson presented by people who had lived it.
The script is based on the play by Teresa Lubkiewicz-Urbanowicz entitled Wijuny. The performance also incorporates stories heard from the people and fragments of the 1st and 2nd Parts of "Dziady" by Adam Mickiewicz.
The play is a reflection of time, of the past, which ruthlessly invades the present, of human fate, old age, love and death, of the human condition.
It is dedicated to the memory of all the people met in the villages and to their long-forgotten and their world that is now passing away.
