Krzysztof Czyżewski and the Summer School in Transformative Research

The announcement of the talk with Krzysztof Czyżewski

Krzysztof Czyżewski was invited to a talk with the students and researchers of the Summer School in Transformative Research.

This project was launched after the full scale invasion of Russia on Ukrainie and it’s aim is to explore how different disciplines can contribute to understanding human and institutional agency today.

As we can read in the official post of the project: Every summer school starts with a book. Not just a theme or concept — an actual book we read together, around which questions gather, intuitions form, new discoveries emerge.

The 2026 edition will be devoted to Towards Xenopolis. To quote agin from the official post: Our next school is dedicated to understanding collective agency — the agency of community. And xenopolis, "the city of others," turned out to be crucial for this theme. Czyżewski writes about building community where it seems impossible — in borderlands where there are multiple languages, multiple memories, multiple versions of history. About how collective action is born not from sameness, but from the capacity to see ourselves in the other. About bridges that can be built. And about how they get killed.

The meeting with Krzysztof Czyżewski was organised after the group had spent two months discussing his book.
