The Borderland is honoured to announce a debate on Eastern Europe.
The debate will take place on 12 August 2023 at 5 p.m. in the Milosz manor in Krasnogruda.
Its participants will be Mindaugas Kvietkauskas (Vilnius), Haris Pašovič (Sarajevo), Martin M. Šimečka (Bratislava), Erik Tabéry (Prague).
It will be hosted by Krzysztof Czyżewski.
‘’We Eastern Europeans are ready to fight for Europe even if sometimes our love might be unreciprocated” these words were written by a Ukrainian writer, Victoria Amelina who died in Kramatorsk, killed by a Russian missile. She was thinking about Budapest in 1956 and Prague in 1968. How does it refer to our times?
A Bosnian, Czech, Slovak, Lithuanian and a Pole will talk about their identity and responsibility.

- Erik Tabéry – journalist and editor in chief of the RESPEKT magazine
- Martine M. Šimečka – a writer and a journalist
- Haris Pašovič – theatre director and founder of the EAST-WEST CENTRE in Sarajevo
- Eszter Kováts – political scientist
- Mindaugas Kvietkauskas – scholar, translator and expert in the literature of Lithuanian Jews; his main academic focus is the multilingual literature of Vilnius from the turn of the 19th and the 20th century
