Natalia Belchenko -- a new resident from Ukraine

The Borderland is happy to announce the name of another resident from Ukraine.

Natalia Belchenko is a poet and translator. She was born in Kyiv and graduated Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. She is a member of the Ukrainian PEN Club and STL.

She is the author of ten books of poetry. Her poems have been translated into sixteen languages. She has been awarded for her work several times both in Ukraine and abroad and has been a resident of several different institutions supporting writers.

Her translations from Polish to Ukrainian include Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz, Anna Swir, Wisława Szymborska and Czesław Miłosz. She translates contemporary Polish poetry as well. One of her biggest achievements is the translation of some of the most beautiful Polish carols into Ukrainian.

During her stay in Krasnogruda (15 March – 15 April) she will be translating the poetry of Halina Poświatowska. A Ukrainian translation of the book about Poświatowska by a Polish scholar Bartosz Suwiński was published in Ukraine in 2022.
