A Tale of the Dying Ash Tree -- a workshop with Ukrainian artists

The pupils of the Krasnow primary school took part in the activities whose focus was on fungi.

We talked about what fungi look like, the way they smell and where they grow. We also talked about various kinds of fungi in the world and how many of them we can name. The participants tried to imagine the moment when fungi first appeared in the world, which was a billion years ago. We also had a conversation about what mycelium is, how fungi reproduce, what they have in common with plants and animals and why they are neither the former nor the latter.

While taking the walk in the Krasnogruda park the participants saw some of the fungi. Later on, they worked illustrations with different techniques. The water colour illustrations served later on as the material for mini pop-up books that were designed with the help of Julia Brovarna, whereas Hanna Osadko taught the group how to work on the illustrations from plastiline.
