Over the past months, we have been listening to the sound of our river, recording its current, its history, and the memories inscribed along its banks. The Marycha River, together with the entire network of its tributaries – hidden streams flowing through the surrounding landscape – has its own source and its own music that emerges from it.
This is a borderland river. Following its movement, we have arrived at a map of neighbouring, mysterious, and surprising influences. For this reason, our story does not end in Sejny; it continues along ancient routes until it flows into the Nemunas, drawing the basin of a shared Polish–Lithuanian river world.
We have invited guests from nearby Merkinė to join our workshop. From there, other memories have reached us as well – particular sounds that could only have been born in that place. In this way, through a weave of different tributaries – fragments, words, natural sounds, human stories, and the resonance of collected objects – our sound performance will emerge.
